 Summer 2011 is Upon Us
and the social lives of Buí Bolg’s staff are no more.
Our workshop program with ‘Our Lady of Fatima School’ is drawing to a close. Our Youth Group coordinator Eddie Milbourne McCarthy has spent the last ten weeks teaching student’s circus and drama skills. Eddie has described the work as challenging but extremely rewarding. What the students have learned will be put to the test next week as they’ll be producing a show Wed 22nd for all parents and school staff. See our education section for more info.
Meanwhile Lucy and Fionnuala will be crossing the pond to attend the Greenwich Docklands International Festival in London where they’ll be hosting a stand for Buí Bolg,
Caoimhe Dunn’s heading South, delivering youth arts summer school in Cork for youth workers throughout the country. This NYCI Workshop is called ‘Breaking the Rules’ and focuses on giant puppetry.
We’ll also be decorating venues in Cork and Dublin for the ‘Street Performance World Championships’ which will have our giant deckchairs (available for rent!) on display.
Looking forward to a nice relaxing Autumn!!

 LMDS Goes National, Then International!
Buí Bolg’s set for Billy Roche’s play has touched down in Galway where it is being performed at Galway Town Hall Theatre , last night this Saturday so catch it quick!
After this run the play will make it’s international debut at the Tricycle Theatre in London city for July!
Buí Bolg’s entire set is designed as a boxing ring contained in the circus tent of Delaney’s Travelling Road Show, slipping the audience into the dark lonely world of the play. where you can watch the action unfold from ring side seats!
Media reaction to the play has been brilliant, and we’re delighted with the praise for our set (Fionnuala McMullin) and costume design (Frances White).
“A Quiet Gem..Superb ensemble performances..beautiful writing and box clever directing .. a joy to watch . Exquisite set & lighting” The View – RTE1
“Hugely imaginative set by Bui Bolg .Roche's fine writing presents a peek inside an unseen world” Sunday Business Post

 Brand New Act in Production!
Buí Bolg has been working closely with Medb Lambert and Donal Gallagher of the Asylum Theatre to produce Buí Bolg’s newest street show ‘Chancy Brothers 2
’(working title). The show debuted at the Temple Bar Tradfest in January of this year and has undergone numerous changes since then.
A quintessential Irish scene unfolds through giant puppetry and music. A typical tale of the Irish diaspora told through wit and humour as well as a tinge of sadness packed up in the suitcase.
The Chancy Brothers 2 is now available for touring!

Out with the Old, In with the New
This week we said a heart-wrenching goodbye to our marketing intern, Conor O’ Donovan (writer of this newsletter & much, much more ...facebook, twitter
etc). Conor has worked with Buí Bolg since January on a college internship and says 'it has been great working in such a unique work place and with such amazing people'! On the bright side though, Lou Fryer arrived this week, an art student from Wales who got in contact with us through the Coracle program
. Lou studies Theatre design & production at Trinity St. David’s University Carmarthen where she met Buí Bolg when we delivered a workshop to their students. She liked it so much she’s decided to work on our upcoming events for the next six weeks! If you’d like work experience with Buí Bolg on your C.V., contact lucy@buibolg.com.
